Irvingtons' Benton House
Tour of Homes is a main fundraising activity for the House.
The event scheduled this year on September 19th provides more
than a third of the funding for maintenance and upkeep. Recently
a portion of the fund has been set aside for specific purposes.
In 2006, the effort funded a new sign for the front yard.
In 2007, the money was set aside for part of the funding for
a new slate roof, gutters and downspouts. In 2008, money from
the Tour paid for a new HVAC system for the second floor and
Caretaker quarters. In 2009, fifty new folding chairs were
purchased for meetings inside and a much needed trim and removal
of dead trees on the grounds was accomplished.
We are grateful for the homeowners, tour sponsors, and committees
who help to make this fundraiser such a success.
Homes on the tour this year include ~ 351 S. Audubon,
308 S. Audubon, 203 S. Audubon, 375 S. Good, and 6433 East
Pleasant Run Parkway South Drive.
Tickets may be
purchased at Bookmamas, 9 S. Johnson Avenue, Jack & Jill
Antique Mall of Irvington, 5501 E. Washington Street and Central
Ace Hardware, 1025 N. Arlington Avenue.
Tickets are $13.00 or 4 for $40.00 presale and $15.00 the
day of the tour.
