Irvingtons' Benton House Tour of Homes is a main fundraising activity for the House. The activity scheduled this year on September 19th provides more than a third of the funding for maintenance and upkeep. Recently a portion of the fund has been set aside for specific purposes. In 2006, the effort funded a new sign for the front yard. In 2007, the money was set aside for part of the funding for a new slate roof, gutters and downspouts. In 2008, money from the Tour paid for a new HVAC system for the second floor and Caretaker quarters. In 2009, fifty new folding chairs were purchased for meetings inside and a much needed trim and removal of dead trees on the grounds was accomplished.
